King's Casino Rozvadov: The Czech miracle

08.12.2014

In the teeny-tiny village at the German-Czech border one can find a casino with the largest poker room in Europe – 60-70 tables are available at any time.

An hour and a half’s from Nuremberg and two-hour's drive from Prague, as if right at the border, there’s a human settlement Rozvadov which is so small that its population numbers less than 1,000 inhabitants. It gained the worldwide and European fame due to the King's Casino, build in 2003.

Brief overview:

Name: King's Casino Rozvadov

Owner: high roller Leon Tsoukernik

Location: Czech Republic

Year of opening: 2003.

Despite the significant distance from large cities, Rozvadov King's Casino is extremely popular – especially with Germans.

The main reason for such a success is the competent head of the establishment – high roller Leon Tsoukernik. He was born in Moscow; his family moved from place to place and eventually settled in Czech Republic.

Being a professional player who has seen lots of casinos Tsoukernik knew one secret: the secret of guarantee! If you arrange tournaments with enormous guarantees, the people will push forward sooner or later.

In 2006 there appeared assured prize stocks in the schedule which yielded a loss for two years in a row. They had to pay the rest from their own pockets. With time these guaranteed prizes started becoming covered and the number of players was growing.

Nowadays, as a matter of fact, Rozvadov King's Casino turned from the small casino into the largest poker destination in Europe.

Casino

The casino is an integral part of the establishment, but as opposed to the most of other big playing houses, it forms the income together with the poker room. The poker at King's Casino is not considered as a decoy, it brings a good profit.

The thing is in the quantity: there is certain threshold beyond which the conducting of the tournaments and cash-tables becomes very profitable. In Rozvadov this border has been crossed a long time ago.

King's Casino doesn’t offer any impressive shows or famous artists’ performances – the secret of its success is relatively cheapness. The hotel room prices start from €30 per night; there are cheap transfer from Prague, Munich or Nuremberg and a smorgasbord for players.

Not far from the casino you can find Marianske Lazne resort, golf-club and lots of other stuff.

The casino is also famous because of the excellent service and dealers’ competency.

Poker

The poker in Rozvadov takes the first place with its 60-70 tables. At any time during the day and night somebody play something. The tournaments are held every day, tournament series are held very often.

By December 14 a few dozen (!) of events of various series have already been held: Pokerstars King's Cup, Deutsche Poker Tour, GCOP, Italian Festival, Eureka Poker Tour and so on. If there are no “outside” series in project, the local tournaments are organized in the poker room.

Buy-ins in tournaments start from tens of euros. In general it’s around €100, although some very expensive events (a couple of thousand euros) also take place.

By the way, you can watch active real-time games online.

Germans make up the usual contingent – over 50%. There are also players from Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia. The fields are usually weak. Sometimes the most famous pro arrive.

Verdict:

Rozvadov King's Casino is a beautiful place for poker players, if they don’t have problems with travelling to the german-сzech border…  It is still not the very convenient location.

As for the rest of it – it’s a heaven. Affordable residence expenses, the largest room in Europe, weak fields, the enormous number of various series, reasonable rake and the tournaments structure – all these thing form the conditions for playing over and over again.
